Eastern section of Heritage Trail shut

The Heritage Trail, from Glen Lough to Union Mills has been be closed from 9am today (December 4) until no later than Friday, December 22.

The closure is for ditching work in the area below Glen Lough campsite and tree maintenance further along towards Union Mills.

Due to the nature of the work the DOI cannot re-open during morning and evening commutes, and the path will remain closed throughout (including weekends).

The three week closure period includes contingency for bad weather either impacting these works directly or in the case that its staff have to redeploy to urgent weather related works elsewhere.

The DOI has said that the route will re-open as soon as possible and will keep the public informed on social media.
