New memorial plaques in Douglas’s memorial garden will only be in place for 10 years.

 

There will be an option to renew – at a charge of £85 every 10 years if they wish to keep it, otherwise Douglas Council will remove them after the initial decade.

 

A plaque currently costs £197.90 and those purchased until now had no end date.

 

The local authority has confirmed older plaques won’t be removed.
