Call for 'extra traffic calming measures' in Laxey

Garff Commissioners has asked for ‘extra’ traffic calming measures, including the presence of the Roads Policing Unit, in Laxey.
 
The Department of Infrastructure is planning to close the Mountain Road in April to do maintenance work in preparation for the TT.
 
However the local authority has ‘concerns’ about the potential increase of traffic that will be going through the area.
 
After opposition from the commissioners, parking restrictions will now be in place on New Road during ‘peak hours’.
