Celebrations for Ukraine's Independence Day will be marked on the Island today.

A special prayer will be held for Ukrainians at the Promenade Methodist Church Hall in Douglas at 7:30pm.

The day recognises the country's freedom from Soviet rule.

Today is six months since Russian forces poured into Ukrainian territory.
